What prompted Alaska's migration to Microsoft Azure?
The State of Alaska faced challenges with its legacy on-premises infrastructure, which was complex, inefficient, and costly. Additionally, the state's vast geography made it difficult to provide consistent access to digital services. To overcome these issues and enhance modernization, security, and workforce development, Alaska contracted with Microsoft to migrate its internal and public-facing applications to Azure.
How many applications and servers were migrated?
In just three months, the State of Alaska successfully migrated 1,200 servers and 700 applications to Microsoft Azure. This rapid migration was part of a larger strategy to modernize the state's infrastructure and improve access to digital services for its residents.
